All I Want for Christmas...

Is two of my bottom teeth.

Miss Kylie is getting some teeth. There are two teeth poking through on the bottom front. It is hard to get a picture, because she likes to hold her mouth tightly closed.  Can't believe my little baby is already getting teeth.
She is growing up so fast :(:(:(:(
We were on our way back from Garden Ridge this past Sunday (December 6th) and it had been a long day. She is normally a really good traveler, but half way home she started to fuss a little. We can usually give her a pacifier and she calms down. That worked a few times, but she kept fussing. Joe reached back to give her the pacifier back and she took his hand and put his fingers in her mouth, and he felt her little teeth. No wonder she was fussy. We stopped at Walmart on the way home to get some overnight Baby Oragel just in case. As soon as we got her in the store, she just looked at me and smiled. Her teeth really haven't been bothering her. The only way I know she is teething (other than the fact that I can see the little teeth) is that she sucks in her bottom lip and sucks on her teeth (or where the teeth are coming in).
It is hard to believe that is less than one month, Miss Kylie Jo will be half a year old.

Where has the time gone?

I cannot believe that in one week my baby will be five months old! She is growing up so fast. It's hard to believe that on New Years Day it will be halfway until her first birthday. Kylie is still, in my opinion, the best baby anyone could ask for. She is happy and smiling 95% of the time.

Facts about Kylie:

• Still looks like her daddy according to 90 percent of the people we know. We hope she grows out of that...HA HA
  


• At her 4 month checkup she was 12 lbs and 5 oz (exactly two pounds heavier than her 2 month checkup), and 24 and a half inches long. I can already see that she is going to be taller than me. Her next checkup is when she is 6 months old. Can't wait to see how much more she has grown.
  


• She still sleeps all night (from about 11pm until 7 or 8am). Poor baby is up late because of mommy and daddy's work schedules. Mommy has to feed her when she gets off at 11pm :(
  


• She now moves in her sleep. Before I was able to put her to bed and she would sleep all night on her back. Now I put her to bed on her back and when I get her up in the morning, she is on her tummy with her feet under her, and her little butt in the air.
  


• She still loves to be held and cuddle with her mommy and daddy.
  


• She is a great napping buddy!! We lay on the couch together and take naps quite often.
  She sits with us helping her and likes to pull herself up to the sitting position while holding onto our fingers.
  


• She is still moving all of the time. The only time her legs stay still is when she is asleep. She loves to sit in her bouncy seat and kick those legs. We don't have to bounce her in the chair, she moves herself with all of the kicking she does. She kicks so hard that the toys hanging down have flipped over the other side of the toy bar a few times.
  


• She rolls over both ways. She likes to lay on her tummy in her crib and look at the colorful butterflies on her crib sheet.
  


• She now takes her pacifier out of her mouth and can put it back in by herself...most of the time. When she takes it out of her mouth, she likes to hold on to it with her thumb.
  


• She now laughs out loud. She first did it about a week ago. She only does it sometimes, but when she does, it is a full belly laugh. Her whole face lights up! I have told several people that she is laughing out loud. When I try and make her laugh to show someone she just gets a huge smile on her face like she is going to laugh, but she doesn't make a sound. (She loves to make a liar out of her mommy)
  
• Her favorite "toys" are her bear blanket and her burp cloths.
  
• She has found her feet and likes to pull on them. Thankfully they haven't gone into her mouth yet. I'm sure that day is coming.

I can't wait to continue to watch her grow and learn. She learns something new almost every day. I love her so much and I am very proud to be her mommy!!! There are times I am so tired after work, that I just want to go home and sleep, but as soon as I see her I get more energy.

Kylie Jo will be four months old next Sunday! She is the best baby anyone could have and I'm glad that she is mine. She loves to smile all the time...well 99% of the time. She is really started to "talk" to us now. It is hard to watch a movie at home because she talks through it, but I don't mind. I love to hear her little voice.
Next appointment is November 6th for her 4 month checkup.

I can't believe that Kylie will be four months old on November 1st! Time is flying by! She is growing up way too fast.

2 Months

Kylie is now almost three months old. These past two have really gone by fast. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home. She went for her 2 month checkup a few weeks ago. She weighed 10 lbs 4oz and was 22.5 inches long. The doctor says she is "tall" for her age. She also got four shots. She was not very happy about that. Mommy and Daddy hated seeing their baby cry, but mommy picked her up and made her feel better with lots of kisses and hugs. Next checkup is when she is four months old.

Facts about Kylie Jo:

• sleeps through the night most of the time
• holds her head up by herself most of the time (very strong)
• good eater
• likes to sit up like a big girl...with mommy's help
• loves to smile and coo at mommy, daddy, and YaYa
• rolled over from tummy to back and back to tummy on Sunday, Sept 20th
• likes to cuddle and sleep on mommy or daddy's chest
• likes to give 'kisses'
• likes her swing and bouncy seat

Back to Work

Here is Miss Kylie sitting in her swing. She loves to swing. She normally falls asleep swinging. This is how she sits most of the time. I think she is looking up because the swing is playing music and she is looking to see where the sound is coming from.

After being off for two months (and one day) I started back to work today. It was very hard leaving Kylie at home with her daddy. I wish I could stay home with her and still get paid.
It is strange now to be sitting in the dispatch office. I kind of forgot how to dispatch. Hopefully everything will come back once the phones start ringing.
Can't believe the little princess is two months old already. She is growing so fast. She has started to "talk" to us. I love to just listen to her talk. It is sooooo cute! I think I heard her say 'mama' the other day. I know she didn't know what she was saying, but I heard it. She is the best baby. She loves to cuddle and give kisses. She only cries when she is hungry, wet, or if she drops her pacifier while she is trying to get to sleep. She sleeps through the night for the most part. She likes to be wide awake around 3am, but goes back to sleep pretty quickly. She is awake more during the day now. Her eyes are so big and blue. She loves to sit in her boppy, look around, and kick her feet. She is a kicker. Her feet are always moving, and I told Joe I think she is going to be a runner like her momma:)

One month old

I haven't blogged in forever. We haven't had access to the internet for over two weeks. We had to switch internet service providers due to our original one no longer servicing our area. Since my last post I have been busy taking care of Kylie. She is wake alot more now. She loves to hold her head up and look around at everything. Everything is going good. She goes for her two month checkup on Sept 4th. Hard to believe she is already that old. Time is really flying. I go back to work on Sept 1st. I don't really want to, but have to :(:(:(:(

More of the story...

After visting the NICU, Joe and I tried to get as much sleep as we could. We hadn't slept much that day [I wonder why :) ]I had to keep waking up every time the nurses wanted to check my vitals, but got some good sleep for the most part. The next morning (Thursday) I woke up and immediately wanted to go upstairs to visit Kylie. After waiting over 24 hours after she was born, I finally got to hold my new baby! I was so happy! We were told by the doctors that they would decide by Saturday, July 4th, if she would be able to come home or if she would have to stay. Thursday and Friday we spent time in the NICU and in our room with all of the visitors that came. Saturday morning I was told by the doctor that I would be discharged sometime later in the day. After talking to my doctor, we went upstairs to see what the NICU doctor had to say. After she made her rounds of all the babies, the doctor came back to us and informed us that Kylie would be staying in the NICU for a while longer. We were told the earliest she would come home would be Tuesday and the latest would be Saturday. She still needed some antibiotics and was also a little jaundiced. Joe and I were both very upset at the thought of having to leave the hospital without Kylie. My mom came up and helped us get everything ready to go home. We came home and ate lunch (Bush's chicken...YUM!...since the thought of chicken made me sick throughout my entire pregnancy). We took a nap and relaxed for a little bit before heading back up to the hospital. When we left the hospital that night we both were very upset. It is hard to see your baby in the NICU and then have to leave her there. On our way home we saw the fireworks from the Brazos. We got some food and headed home to try and get some sleep. We slept as much as we could. We got up Sunday morning and again headed up to the hospital to see what the doctor had to say. We finally got some good news. The doctor said it looked like Kylie would be coming home on Tuesday, but she wouldn't know for sure until Monday morning. We were so excited! We spent the day on Sunday visiting Kylie (like we would do anything else).
Monday morning we got up and like the days before, we headed up to the hospital. When we got there, we got even better news. The doctor said Kylie would get to go home on Tuesday and we could stay with her Monday night in a room at the hospital. It is called "Care by Parent". It is a room that is close to the NICU that parents can stay in the day before their baby goes home. We were told we would be fully responsible for feeding and changing her, but the nurses would be right around the corner if we needed anything. After speaking with the doctor we headed home to get our bags packed to stay overnight. We called everyone on the way home and gave them the good news! We got to the hospital about 4:30pm and were taken to the room. We finally got to hold Kylie without the hospital gown and rubber gloves on. It was great! The night at the hospital went well. I had to get up every three hours to feed her, but I didn't mind :)
Tuesday morning the nurses came in and took Kylie to get her vitals checked. While she was being checked, the hospital photographer came by and told us she would be back to take Kylie's pictures. The nurses brought Kylie back to the room and said everything looked great. After waiting for a while, the photographer came in and took her pictures (which can be found at www.hillcrest.net under the virtual nursery...select July 1st and click on Lindsey R).
After the pictures we done and we signed all of the discharge papers, we finally were able to leave. The nurse carried Kylie out to the car, we put her in her carseat, and off we went. It was so nice to be leaving the hospital knowing that Kylie was in the backseat of the car and not in the NICU. We got home and tried to settle down as a family of three.
Since then we have had quite a few visitors (thankfully not everyone came on the same day). Everything is going good. I love being a mom! Kylie is the sweetest baby! I also love watching Joe with her. He is wrapped around her little finger :) I told him that he has gotten soft. He said that he is "soft" at home, but when he puts on his uniform he goes back to his old self at work. He is a mean and rough police officer, but the sweetest daddy when he gets home :):):) It was a little tough on him to go back to work, but knew that day would come sometime. Luckily I still have until September 1st before I have to go back. I already know I don't want to go back. It is going to be very very very tough to leave her at home, but I won't think about that now. I still have alot of time left.
Kylie will be one month old this coming Wednesday. This month has flown by. She had really grown in just one month. She already tries to hold up her head and is pretty good at it. She sleeps most of the time, but when she is awake she loves to just look around at everything. I love her big blue eyes. I have even seen quite a few smiles. I will have to post some pictures when I have more time.
Kylie had her first babysitter this past week. My mom watched her while Joe and I went to a baseball game in Arlington. We went to cheer on the Boston Red Sox while they played the Texas Rangers. Sadly the Red Sox lost, but we still had a good time. The game was fun, but I couldn't wait to get home.

She has arrived

I know this post is almost three weeks late, but I have been a little busy :)
I will post more about her birthday another time, but just wanted to give a little bit of information.
Kylie Jo arrived on Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at 7:47am. She weighed 7 lbs 8 ozs and was 19.25 inches long. She has blue eyes and light brown/blond hair. She is beautiful!!!!
After Kylie was born, and the doctor was finishing working on me, I only saw the side of her face while Joe was holding her. Joe then took her to the nursery while I went to the recovery room. I stayed there for about an hour and then was taken to a labor and delivery room (since all of the other rooms were full). I was told I would be there for about four hours until a room opened up. Once in the room I was waiting for them to bring her to the room. I was told that Joe got to give her first bath while she was in the nursery (pictures to come). After waiting what felt like forever, her pediatrician (and my doctor), Dr. Speckmiear came in to talk to me. He then told me the worst news a new mom could ever hear. They would be taking Kylie to the NICU. Dr. S told me that she was breathing 90 times a minute and that she had fluid in her lungs. I immediately started to cry. Everyone else got to see her in the nursery before they took her upstairs, but I hadn't even seen her yet. The doctor told me it could be one of three things wrong: #1- "Wet Lungs", which is common in some newborns, #2- fluid in the lungs from being a C-Section baby, or #3- an infection. He said the first one would clear up in about three days and the second one would clear up in about a week. Even though I wish I didn't have to worry about any of it, I was hoping that it was one of the first two problems.
After about fours hours of sitting in a labor and delivery room (while they were doing construction outside and under the floor), I was wheeled into my own room where I would be staying the next few days. I was told that I got the best room because I had the best view. There was a fountain outside my window and it was supposed to light up at night (which it never did). Still I had not seen Kylie. I really wanted to go up to the NICU as soon as I got to my room, but my doctor said that I would have to wait a while longer (it is already 4pm). She said I had to wait at least 12 hrs after surgery before getting into a wheelchair to go upstairs. Around 5pm I got the news that I could go to the NICU, but I would have to wait until 8 since they close the NICU for shift change. A little after 8pm (more than 12 hours after she was born), Joe and I headed upstairs to see Kylie. She looked so little (even though she was "big" for a NICU baby). I really wanted to hold her, but was told I wouldn't be able to until her breathing got better. I could have sat there and looked at her forever. I was so glad to finally get a good look at my precious little baby. After visiting for a little while, Joe and I headed back downstairs to our room to get some sleep.

We Are On Our Way!!!

In about an hour and a half, Joe and I will be headed to the hospital. We have to be there at 5am! I have been up since 2:15a and for some reason I can't sleep (I don't know why not :) ). The C-Section is scheduled for 7:30am and should take about an hour. The doctor said Kylie will be out in the first 15 minutes, so by 7:45 (or so) we will be parents!!!! I am really getting nervous (and excited) now! It seems like just yesterday we were looking at her little heartbeat on the monitor and now she is going to be here today! I'm ready for her to be here.
We had our last appointment on Monday. Doctor did another ultrasound and she said it looks like Kylie is going to weigh about 8 and 1/2 pounds! She said that is a good size. ( A very healthy baby). Definitely takes after her daddy :) We will see if the doctor's measurements are accurate.
We got everything finished up today. We had the main stuff done, but there were last minute details we had to finish. We put the carseat in the car, set up the nursery monitor, and shopped for last minute groceries (since I probably won't be out for a little while :) )
We enjoyed our last day as a family of two. We had our last lunch "out" at Zeb's. For our final "date night" we rented a movie (Madea Goes to Jail....funny) and got Chinese takeout for dinner. I told Joe to listen to the quiet because it won't be like that anymore (he said until she goes off to college :) ).

We are Ready...

Bags are packed...clothes washed...room is ready.
I can't believe that in 8 days, Kylie will be here! I am sooooo excited! We are ready for her to come. All of her clothes and blankets are washed. The only thing left is for Joe to touch up the paint on the crib, but he doesn't have to do it right away because she is going to be in a pack n' play in our room for a while. My mom came over this past week and we finished decorating. Everything turned out great. Hopefully Kylie's favorite colors are pink and green because that is what the majority of her nursery is :):)
I go back to the doctor on Monday, June 29th for my last appointment before she arrives. The doctor is going to do one more ultrasound and explain the C-Section procedure. The closer it gets, the more nervous I get. I'm not really nervous about the baby coming, just the major surgery and recovery part of it. I'm not looking forward to being cut open, but I know everything will be alright.
My last day of work is next Tuesday (the day before). I think I'm going to only work half of my shift so that I can go home and really get myself (and Joe) prepared. I don't think I could sit at work for my whole shift without becoming a complete nervous wreck.

Another Baby Shower...

I had another baby shower this past Sunday. It was hosted by my friend Tricia and my mom's sisters. The shower was great. I had alot of fun. I (or should I say Kylie) got sooooo much stuff! We got a carseat, monitor, glider cushions (recovered by Grandma), diaper wreath (made by Tricia), toy storage trunk, and much more. Kylie got more clothes too! All are very cute. I'm going to have a hard time picking out what to put her in. I think she may have more outfits than me! Now I have to reorganize her dresser.
I have now washed all of her clothes that we got. I still have to wash all of her blankets, but everything else that needs to be washed is ready. The bedding is on the crib (even though we are going to have to take it off to retouch the paint), the glider is in the room with the new cushions, and everything is pretty much done. There are a few more decorations to put up, and Joe still has to install the ceiling fan, but other than that we are ready.
Only 14 days to go! I am ready for her to be here! I'm getting a little more nervous about the surgery part, but I know everything is going to be ok. As long as she is healthy that is all that matters. I have an appointment on Friday. Pretty sure it is going to be another quick one. Doctor didn't do an ultrasound at the last appointment like I thought she would. She said they are going to do the ultrasound the Monday before July 1st, just to make sure nothing has changed.

Baby Shower

My aunts and cousin hosted a baby shower for me yesterday. We played two games and ate some yummy food. We had punch, fruit, nuts, and delicious cupcakes with homemade vanilla buttercream frosting that my aunt made. YUMMY!!! We got a lot of stuff (or I guess I should say, Kylie got a lot of stuff). We got the bedding set, diaper genie, nursery organizer cart, a scrapbook, toys, and tons of clothes and bibs. I have a lot of washing to do before Kylie arrives. She has so many clothes I am going to have to change her at least three times a day so that she can wear everything before she outgrows them. Every outfit is really cute! The scrapbook we got was really special. My cousin's mom made it for us. She has every page decorated, and all I have to do is fill it in. I can't wait to fill it up! I had a lot of fun at the shower and really appreciate everyone for everything that was done. After I got home I unpacked all of the gift bags and kind of put everything away. The clothes are in the crib waiting to be washed, and everything else is put up where it is going to go (for now). I have a lot of organizing to do. I'm going to wait for my other shower before I really start organizing.
My friend and my aunts on my mom's side are hosting a shower for me this coming Sunday. I can't wait!

DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT
We had another doctor's appointment last Tuesday. Doctor said everything is looking good. Next appointment is scheduled for Friday, June 12th. She is going to do another ultrasound just to make sure I have to have a C-Section. I am not getting my hopes up. If July 1st is still the date, we only have 23 days until Miss Kylie's arrival. I am getting really excited!!!!

30 Days and Counting

So even though the tickers on my blog show 42 days to go, there are really only 30. I can't believe that in a month, Kylie will be here! I am getting excited and nervous. There is still alot to do before she comes. I still have to finish decorating/organizing the nursery, wash her clothes and blankets, and get myself prepared (mentally and physically) for her arrival. I guess we better get moving soon because she will be here before we know it. We especially need to get done soon because I have noticed that even the smallest tasks wear me out. I was worn out after just going to Wal-Mart for 30 minutes. Exhaustion is setting in for sure!

I was in a wedding this past weekend. I was a very pregnant bridesmaid. The couple that got married works with us at the PD. It was an outside wedding and my dress was black. The night of the rehearsal was hot. When I got home I felt like I had an inch of sweat and dirt on me. GROSS! Luckily, the day of the wedding wasn't too hot, but there were bugs everywhere. During the ceremony there were flies and gnats flying around everyone. We had a good time, but had to leave early because I had to be at work for the early shift the next day. After getting home I figured I would sleep like a rock, but I was wrong. I slept maybe two hours and then I woke up and couldn't get back to sleep. It wouldn't have been bad if I didn't have to get up at 5:15 the next morning. Joe didn't get much sleep either. Finally I decided that I would try and sleep in my chair in the living room. Joe said he would sleep on the couch. Not even five minutes after getting into my chair, I was asleep. I think my body is used to the chair now because that is where I have been sleeping the past few weeks while Joe works. The couch is no longer comfortable to me. I can't wait to be able to sleep in my own bed without having to change positions every few hours because I get uncomfortable. I know I will lose some sleep when the baby comes, but being able to sleep on my stomach and back will be nice. I love my sleep! Hopefully Kylie will love her sleep time too :)

I have two showers coming up. My aunts on my dad's side are hosting a shower for me on June 7th, and then the next Sunday my friend Tricia and my aunts on my mom's side are hosting another shower for me. I am excited for my showers to finally be here. It is going to be a busy two weekends. After the last shower, there will only be two and a half weeks until Kylie arrives!

We have another appointment tomorrow. I think it is going to be another short one, but I guess we will see. I am going to ask the doctor if she is for sure on the C-Section date. I think she was making the call to the hospital after the last appointment, but I want to make sure she isn't changing the date on me.

Weekend Fun

We had a great weekend. Friday night we went over to our friend's house for some hamburgers. We didn't get to stay very long because Joe had to come home and get ready for work, but we still had fun hanging out for a while. Saturday I got up early and mom and I went shopping. We went to Hobby Lobby and Target. My mom had a gift card to Hobby Lobby and she spent it all (and then some) on stuff for Kylie's room! It was supposed to be for her to buy something for herself, but since she is the greatest mom (yaya) she used it for stuff for Kylie. We got alot of cute stuff. We got some butterflies to hang in the room, some green and pink woven baskets for the changing table, and a cute hook to hang up (don't know where yet). We spent quite a bit of time at Hobby Lobby. After Hobby Lobby we went to Target and mom bought me some new pajama pants to wear in the hospital (since none of my pjs fit anymore). I am happy that I finally have Saturdays off so I can do stuff like shop and whatever else I want to. I always have fun shopping with my mom! Pretty soon Kylie will be joining us on Saturday shopping trips:)
Sunday I woke up really early and went to work (like every Sunday). After work I headed home, and Joe and I drove out to my uncle's house for a Memorial Day/Family get together. We got there about 4, but Joe had to work that night so we figured we wouldn't get to stay that long. There were a lot of people there (as always when the family gets together:) ) About 7 Joe said he thought about taking a 'personal' day from work so we could stay longer. He called his supervisor who told him it would not be a problem, so we got to stay as long as we wanted. I was happy that we didn't have to go home early. It seems like every time there is a family "party" we have to leave early because one of us has to go to work. We hung out and ate alot of yummy food. We had hamburgers, hot dogs, potato salad, chips, beans, and many kinds of desserts. We had brownies, fresh fruit, cupcakes, and sopapilla cheesecake. It is DELICIOUS! I think the favorite was a tie between the fresh watermelon and the cheesecake. We ate alot of food! Joe went swimming with some of the family, and I sat with everyone else and watched. We had a blast! It is always a fun time when the family gets together, no matter what we are doing! We didn't leave until a little after 10. After we got home, we were going to stay up and watch some tv, but that didn't last long. We were in bed by 11p (which is early for us).
This was the last holiday with just the two of us. By the time the next holiday, 4th of July, is here, Kylie will be here with us! We can't wait...Not much longer!

Coming Sooner than we thought...

Looks like Kylie will be here sooner than expected. I had an ultrasound today and was told I have to have a C-Section. Doctor scheduled it for July 1st. She said not to hold her to that date, but she was on the phone setting it up with the hospital when we left the doctor's office.
So even though my ticker shows 56 days to go, we really have 44 days! I'm excited that she will be here sooner, but kind of upset that I have to have a C-Section. I think Joe is glad that we have a date set, so that he won't have to get a phone call at work and rush to the hospital. This way we can go in together and not have to rush around before heading to the hospital. Doctor said everything else is looking good. The baby weighs about 4 1/4 pounds right now. Next appointment is scheduled for June 2nd.

4D Ultrasound..here she is

We had a 4D ultrasound on Thursday. It was cool to see what she looks like. Everyone is giving their opinion on who she resembles. The majority of people say she looks like me. Kylie's First Pictures and an Appointment

Here are some pictures of Kylie. They are from the ultrasound from when we found out it was a girl, so they are over a month old. As you can see from the top picture, she is definitely a girl. The doctor told us to look at the picture as if she was sitting on a glass table. So we are looking at her butt and her legs. The other two are side shots of her. I think she has her eyes open in the second one and closed in the last one. (These are actually the second time we got to see her on the ultrasound, but the first time she was just a little speck on the screen). If you click on the image below it will give you a bigger picture.

Another Appointment

We had another doctor's appointment today (looking at the time I guess it was technically yesterday). It was another quick one. We were in the waiting room longer than we were in the actual doctor's office. When we finally got back to the room, the doctor came in and checked the heartbeat. The heartbeat was 163 bpm. Doctor said everything is looking good. She also let me know that I passed my three hour glucose test. YEA!!!! I am so glad I don't have to go back for the four hour one. Next appointment is scheduled for May 18th. At our next appointment there will be another ultrasound. This one is to check her measurements and etc, but also to check the location of my placenta. At the last ultrasound, the doctor told me that my placenta was blocking where she would come out, so she diagnosed me with placenta previa. She said that there was plenty of time for it to move so we will be checking at the next appointment. Hopefully it has moved. If not, I will have to have a C-Section. Definitely don't want that! I am also hoping I can get some more pictures of her.
Also, I am going to be calling my mom's friend to get an appointment to do the 3D ultrasound. Hopefully we can do that really soon. Those images are kind of creepy looking (in my opinion), but I think it will be cool to get a good look at her. I'm excited!

Not sure what kind of look is on my face in picture below...I think I was laughing at something. Can't believe it has been two and a half years since we got married! Time flies.

Failed!!!

Well I got bad news last week. Two days after taking the one hour glucose test, I got a call saying that I had failed the test. The nurse told me that they want the test results to come back showing 140 or less, and mine was 142. I failed by two points :(:(
The nurse told me that I would have to make an appointment for the three hour test, so I made an appointment for this last Wednesday morning. So again, no food or drink (not even gum) after 11pm on Tuesday night. Luckily I was off from work. We got up on Wednesday morning and went to take my test. I thought that I would have to drink that gross sugar drink and then come back in three hours and have my blood drawn. We had stuff to do, so it would be enough time for me to get my errands done, and then go back and have my blood work done. I was wrong! I had to have my blood drawn, drink that nasty stuff, and then was told to come back every hour to have my blood drawn again. So after drinking the sugar drink, Joe and I went to HEB to get a puzzle book and magazine to occupy our three hour stay. The time went by pretty quick. I was glad not to have to sit there by myself. I had blood taken four times. I felt fine until after the last time blood was taken. After the last blood was taken, Joe and I went to get food (since I hadn't eaten in twelve hours). I started feeling very bad. I was weak and shaking all over. I knew it was due to not having any food and having all of that blood taken. After eating I felt a little better, but not 100% so we went home and both took a two hour nap. After my nap I was much better. (Not much that I good nap can't help!).

BASEBALL
Everyone that knows Joe, knows that he is a huge Boston Red Sox fan (he got me to be a fan too)! We wanted to go to Boston this summer, but for obvious reasons, that got a little postponed. After going to the Red Sox/Ranger game last year, we decided that when the Red Sox came back to Arlington we would have to get tickets to the game. The game for this year is scheduled for July 20th (I think). We had planned on going to the game, but I told Joe that we would probably be a little preoccupied with our new little red sox fan. Since we wouldn't get to go to the Red Sox game, we figured any baseball game would be fun, so we found some cheap tickets for the Rangers and the Orioles. We invited Ryan to go with us for his birthday. (Wednesday...the 15th was Ryan's 19th birthday! I can't believe my little brother is growing up so fast. I told him that even though he is 19, he will always be my little baby brother). The afternoon after my three hour test (and our two hour nap) we headed for Arlington Ballpark. We had a good time! Our seats were pretty good. We were right next to the visiting team's bull pen so we got to see all of their pitchers warming up. It was dollar hot dog night! I now know why they are only one dollar. The were little and barely warm, but I still ate two. I could have spent $4.50 and had a nice hot jumbo dog, but why would I spend that when I can get five 'dollar' dogs for the price of one jumbo one. Even though the Red Sox weren't playing we still had fun. We left during the bottom of the 7th inning, and the score was 14 to 3 (Rangers were winning). We got home about midnight. We were exhausted.
A few days after the game, Joe was watching some of the replays from the game we were at and he paused it to see if we could see ourselves. There were quite a few plays that were near us, and we could see where we were sitting, but it was too blurred to figure out who was who. Joe also found out that the Red Sox will be back in Arlington in August. I told him that we could possibly go to one of those games (maybe).

Another Doctor's Appointment

We had another appointment yesterday. Well, actually two appointments. I had to have my glucose test. I was not able to eat after 11pm the night before. Luckily I was able to switch shifts with someone at work, so I didn't have to work the overnight shift while I was fasting. After drinking a very very sweet orange flavored liquid I had to wait an hour and then have my blood drawn. The drinking and having my blood taken wasn't the hard part. The hardest part was having to wait an hour in between. Poor Joe had to work the night before so he didn't have any sleep. I should get my results sometime next week. Hopefully I passed it. If not I will have to go back for the three hour glucose test.
After the glucose test we headed across the street for the doctor's appointment. It was another quick one. Doctor came in and checked the heartbeat. The heartbeat was 153 bpm. Doctor said that she (the baby) is a little mover. I think she was hyper off of the sugary drink. Doctor said everything is looking good (including my weight). The doctor also told my that I will have another ultrasound (not at my next one, but the one after that which should be in May). My next appointment is scheduled in three weeks, April 28th. I'm glad I don't have to wait four weeks anymore between appointments. We were also told when we left, that some of our appointments may have to be moved to the new hospital if the doctor is delivering a baby at the time. Since the tower part of the hospital isn't moved into the new hospital yet (and they think they won't be there until 2010), some appointments may be moved over there. That's ok with me. It will give me a chance to get a look at the new hospital before the baby arrives. Some time in May I am going to set up a chance for Joe and I to take the tour of the hospital. I'm glad we will be in the new hospital instead of the old one.


The Nursery
The nursery is coming along. We got the crib and changing table put together. They look great. I am so thankful to have great friends who are letting us use them. Other than some spots from their little girl chewing on the crib, both are in great condition. A little paint and they will look like new. The crib even came with a mattress. The drapes (sheers) my mom bought look really cute on the window. I bought some crystal flowers to hang with them so that when the sunlight comes in the flowers will sparkle.
There is also another addition (pink of course) to the nursery now. My friend Tricia and I went to the Just Between Friends sale last week and I found a swing. It only cost $10. I was so excited. It is missing the toy bar, but that is fine with me. It is is great condition. It plays music and has six different speed settings. I also bought a crib sheet (well actually Tricia bought it for me along with a baby bath tub and formula storage containers). The sheet was brand new and only $4. I wanted to get it just to put on the mattress until we get the bedding set (plus it was really cute too).
Next week sometime, my mom is going to come over and help us stencil in the room. There will be butterflies, dragonflies, and flowers all over the walls. After the stenciling is done, we have to get some fabric to recover the glider we got, hang some decor on the walls, and put on the bedding set. Then the room will be ready for Kylie! I can't believe she will be here in less than 100 days! I will definitely have to get some pictures of the room when it is done and post them.

24 Weeks and 1 Day...

WOW...Time has really been flying! I can't believe it has been 24 weeks already. In twelve days, I will have less than 100 days until the due date. I am very excited.
We have decided on a name. We have had this name for a while, (thanks to my mom for thinking of it) and I knew as soon as I heard it, we would have to name her that.
Kylie Jo will be here in July (if not before).
We are trying to get everything ready. This last weekend I got a whole box full of really cute baby clothes. Our top two drawers of the dresser are already filled! Thank-you very very much to Jenny (and of course Sophia)!!! Yesterday we found some stencils of flowers, butterflies, and dragonflies to paint in the nursery. Actually, Joe picked them out. They will go perfect with the bedding that we picked out. Mom bought me some curtains (actually sheers) to put on the windows in the nursery. One set is a bright green and the other is a pink. I can't wait to finish the decorating (even though we have quite a way to go). We still have to get the crib and changing table from our friends. I think the nursery will be very cute once we get done. I'm so blessed and happy to have such a crafty and creative mom who helps me pick out stuff and decorate (and who also passed some of her craftiness to me)!

Joe and Ryan held up their end of the bet. Joe picked out baby Mac N Cheese for them to eat. We bought two jars thinking they would each eat a jar, but after smelling it we decided that one bite would be enough. Joe took a bite first and almost swallowed it, but he said his gag reflex kicked in, so he spit it out. Ryan took a bite next, and the look on his face was priceless. I wish I had my camera. He too spit it out! The rest went into the trash! After the yummy (yucky) baby food, we took Ryan to lunch for pizza to get the bad taste out of his mouth.

We are having...

We had our appointment today. She was definitely not modest. Everything is looking good. The doctor said she is about 13 oz right now. My weight is now back to what it was when I found out I was pregnant. Doctor said to keep gaining.
After the appointment we had a lot of calls to make. Everyone I called was surprised to hear it was a girl. They all thought it was a boy. Joe was surprised too. He has been calling the baby a boy the whole time. Before we found out, Joe and Ryan made a bet with me. They both thought it was a boy, and if they were wrong they would have to each eat a jar of baby food (not the good kind). Now we have to go get some baby food! I told Joe we now have to refer to her as a girl, instead of "the baby". I am very excited. Can't wait to start getting all of the decor for the nursery. Due date is still July 13th. Next appointment is April 7th.

One Week and One Day...

In one week and one day we will be finding out if Baby R is a girl or boy. I can't wait! Our appointment is at 2:00 on March 9th. My mom is going with us too. Hopefully the baby will cooperate and give us some good pictures.
There are a lot of opinions on what the gender will be. My mom, dad, and I think it is a girl, while Joe and Ryan think it is a boy. I have a bet going with Joe and Ryan. If they are wrong, they have to each eat a jar of baby food (and not the good kind). They haven't told me what I have to do if I am wrong. Whatever the outcome, I will be excited just to be able to finally find out. Joe really wants a boy so he can have his Red Sox fan to watch games with (apparently I'm not enough company). Even if it is a girl I'm sure she will get into the games too. We have found some really cute Red Sox clothes, blankets, etc in pink and also in blue so I'm sure we will have plenty of Red Sox stuff for baby. Friends and family have also put in there opinion as to what it is. Half think girl, the other think boy. Who will be right????? We will have to wait!
The baby's room is finally getting cleaned out. We got rid of the old broken futon, and someone is coming to get the dresser that we had in there. There is also an armoire that my brother is taking and a side table that my mom wants. As soon as we get that stuff out, our friends said they would bring over the crib and changing table. Joe will be very busy putting together that plus the shelf and dresser we bought at IKEA. We will have to put Ryan to work too! Once the nursery is ready I think it will really set in (even more than now) that there will be a little one in the house.
Not only am I excited about the baby, but I am also excited that we will be in the new hospital. It will only be a few months old, so it will be really nice. We will definitely have to take a tour so we don't get lost!

I can't believe that in about four months there will be a baby in the house. Time is flying (and hopefully the labor and delivery does too).

Shopping Trip for Baby

On Monday, Mom, Joe, and I headed down to Round Rock to go to IKEA. They were having a one day special on a dresser (for the nursery) that was normally $80, and on sale for $40. We got down there about 9, and found out they did not open 10 so we headed over to Starbucks. Even though I couldn't get my normal cappuccino, I got a chocolate/banana shake. It was good. The trip to Starbucks only took 15 minutes so we still had 45 minutes until they opened. We were just going to sit in the car until the doors opened, but we noticed that people were lining up outside. We decided to stand in the cold and wait. It looked like it was the day after Thanksgiving, there were so many people waiting outside. IKEA workers came down the line and passed out coupons which meant that we would definitely get the dresser we came for. Luckily they decided to open the doors early, and we only had to stand in the cold for about ten minutes. Once inside we got a cart and started to look around. We were also looking for a shelf I had seen online. The store was very crowded. It was difficult to make it through the store without almost running into people. We looked around and found some cute stuff. Mom got a few items, and we got a toy holder for the nursery. We also found some baby bedding that I have decided that I want to get if we find out we are having a girl. It is so cute!! After looking at all that we wanted we had to get in the long line to wait for our dresser. We had to stand in a certain line for the certain color dresser that we wanted. We stood in line for about 20 minutes and then got the dresser. We also found the shelf that I had looked at. I am glad we got there when we did because if we had gotten to the store any later, we probably wouldn't have been able to buy the dresser. They were sold out by 11:30am! My mom bought us the dresser...a nice surprise. After checking out we started home. We were all very tired. Shopping wore us out! The store was huge! (I was feeling it for the rest of the day). On the way home we stopped at 'Little Mexico' for lunch...YUMMY! After lunch we headed back home. Joe slept in the backseat (he had worked the night before, so he didn't have any sleep), and Mom and I stopped for some ice cream after lunch. Once we got home, Joe went straight to bed and slept until it was time to get up to get ready for work. I took a nap for a few hours, and then couldn't get back to sleep. (I was very tired that night at work...could barely keep my eyes open).
The dresser and the shelf are going in the nursery. All of our furniture in there will be white. We are borrowing a crib and changing table from our friends. All we are missing is a glider and ottoman. We are going to start clearing out the extra room tomorrow after we get up. We have to get rid of an old futon, an armoire, and a dresser that I used at my mom's. I also have to put all of my craft stuff somewhere else. We are going to be very busy tomorrow! I will be glad when the furniture is set up because all we will need are the decorations and other baby stuff (clothes, toys, etc) and the room will be ready for Baby Rogers! I am very excited. I can't believe that I am already 19 weeks along. In one week I will be half way there! In about four months, we will be a family of three! Time is flying.

Doctor's Appointment

We had another doctor's appointment yesterday (Feb 9th). It was a very quick appointment. We got to the hospital a little after 2pm and left about 2:45p. Not much to the appointment. We heard the heartbeat again. It was about 160 bmp. Doctor said everything was looking good, except for one thing...my weight. I have only gained one pound! The last time I checked my weight at home I thought I had gained three, but I guess our scale is off. I was a little bummed about this. I am really trying to gain weight. I eat as much as I can. I had no problem gaining weight before I got pregnant, but now I can't seem to gain anything. My appetite was bigger before I was pregnant. The doctor suggested I eat six smaller meals a day instead of three big meals. I am going to try and do this, and hopefully it works!
We have our next appointment scheduled for March 9th. It will be our BIG ultrasound. We get to find out the gender of our baby. Boy or Girl...we will find out! Can't wait to know! Joe has always referred to the baby as a boy because he is convinced that is what it is. I tell him it is a girl. I know one of us it right. We will have to wait and see. My mom is coming to the appointment with us. I know she is excited to see her first grandbaby on the screen. Hopefully the baby will work with us so we can tell. 18 weeks down...22 weeks to go!

15 Weeks and 6 days Down...

169 days (about 24 weeks) to go!

I can't believe it has already been 15 weeks (almost 16). I also can't believe that in less than five months I will be holding a baby in my arms. I can't wait! I am really nervous, but also excited.

Now only if my morning sickness (that doesn't really happen in the morning) would go away for good. I have read that is it suppose to go away around week 12, but some unlucky women get to experience it for the entire pregnancy. I hope I am not one of those women. It hasn't been that bad except for when I work my odd shifts at work. When I work the afternoon shift I am fine, but the two days that I work graveyard shift I get sick every morning sometime between 3 and 4a. It is not fun to be sick at work. It makes it really difficult to work when I am getting sick while officers are making traffic stops, arresting people, and the phone won't quit ringing. I am the only one in the dispatch office, so I can't just stop working. Hopefully it stops really soon!!!

Since we probably won't find out what gender the baby is until she/he arrives, we have picked out two names. We keep finding names that we like, but I think we have found the ones that we will stick with. Can't wait to be a family of three.

Doctor's Appointment

We had another appointment today. I was told that they would be doing an ultrasound in two months. I guess that will be the time they will ask if we want to find out the gender. Joe really wants to find out because he says he wants to be prepared. As of right now, I want to know too, but I could change my mind (I'm good at that). We will have to wait until March.

At the appointment we got to hear the heartbeat. It was 172 bpm. Doctor said that was normal. It was really cool to hear the heartbeat, since the last time when we got the ultrasound with just a little speck. I was told that I was losing weight, and it wasn't good. Like I didn't figure that already. She told me to drink milkshakes and eat ice cream, which won't be a problem for me :)

Next appointment is scheduled for February 9th. Can't wait!

San Antonio

This last week while Joe and I were off for our 'Holidays' from work, we took a little vacation to San Antonio. I was off for six days straight and Joe was off for ten! We had plans to go to Arizona and New Mexico, but those plans got changed once we found out we were expecting. We figured that I would not do so well riding in a car for a 14 hour road trip.

So Joe, me, and some friends from work headed down to San Antonio for a little trip. We went down on Wednesday morning and got back Thursday evening. Even though it was a short trip, we had fun! Joe and I stayed at the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Very fancy!! We had valet parking, and a very fancy breakfast. For an extra 20 bucks we got to have breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel. They had an omelet bar, and every breakfast item you could think of. Joe had an omelet and other stuff, and I had eggs, sausage, bacon, and toast. It was delicious. Very much worth the extra $20. The room we stayed in was nice too. It had a king size bed that was very comfortable, and even a minibar (which we did not use for obvious reasons). We went to the comedy club that is on the riverwalk. It was so funny! The comedian was JJ Ramirez. Some of his jokes were a little dirty, but very funny. He kept us laughing the entire time. After the comedy club we looked for a place to get something to eat/drink. We ended up at Dick's. It is where all of the waiters/waitresses are rude to you. I wasn't to happy to be there, but it wasn't as bad as it could have been. After eating/drinking we headed back to our hotel rooms. The next morning after checking out of our hotels we met at the Tower of the Americas. They had a 4D ride that looked like we were flying over the state of Texas. The seats moved. We went everywhere in Texas, from a rodeo (where we felt a bull's horn buck us off and "snot" (water) when he snorted at us) to the desert (where a snake jumped out at us), and to the swamps (where a croc jumped at us). Even though the seats moved I got to enjoy the ride from the non-moving seats (for obvious reasons). After the ride, we rode the elevator to the very top to the observation deck. It was very high in the air. I was surprised that we got Michael on the elevator. On the deck we got to look out at the city. It was very cool to see the city from a different viewpoint. We were so high up that the helicopters in the air were at our level, and the 18 wheelers below looked like toy cars. After the Towers, we headed to the Hard Rock Cafe for lunch before heading out of town. We stopped at Cabella's (an Academy on steroids) in Buda, TX. Afterwards, Joe and I also stopped at Garden Ridge while the others headed back to Waco. We wish we could have stayed a little longer, but were happy to get out for a day. It was our "Babymoon". The next time we will have anymore than two days off in a row will be when we take off in July for the birth.

After six days off I had to come back to work on Saturday. I wish I could have been off longer! That's about it for now. We have our next appointment on Monday, January 12th.
