Halloween 2012

Kylie has been counting down the days until it was time for trick or treating. She couldn't wait to wear her costume and go trick or treating with her friend Cameron.
At first Kylie said she wanted to be Cinderella, but after seeing the Tinkerbell costume she quickly changed her mind. Joe and I were both able to take off from work so we could both go with her. Halloween night we loaded up the car and went to my cousin's neighborhood to trick or treat. The neighborhood is very kid friendly with almost every house giving out candy. It is a very popular neighborhood. As soon as we got out of the car, Kylie knew what to do. She knew that the houses with the porch lights on were the places to go. She loved going door to door and saying "Trick or Treat" and "Thank You". After she got candy from each house, she would come down the sidewalk and say "We going to another house mommy?". She had a blast. There were a few house with some scary things, but it didn't really scare her. She was on a mission to get candy. After walking the block, our neighbors decided to call it a night and head home. We decided to go a few streets down and visit with my cousins at their house. My Grammy, aunts, uncles, and other cousins were there passing out candy and having a little party. Kylie got more candy and thanks to cousin Chase, her pumpkin was filled to the top. She had fun hanging out with the family. Other than getting to eat lots of yummy treats, I think her favorite thing was holding her cousin Autumn (or 'Baby Autumn' as Kylie calls her). We had a great time and then headed home to try to get Kylie to go to bed.

Kylie's First Haircut (Trim)

Kylie has never had her hair cut. She was born with almost no hair so I waited for it to grow long enough for a bow. She finally got enough hair for a ponytail and bow on top of her head. I can even get it in pigtails and a bigger ponytail if I have enough time (and she stays really still which doesn't happen often). I didn't want to get it cut for a while because it took so long to grow to the length it is now. Her hair has natural curl so it looks shorter when it is really curly. We decided to finally get her hair cut (trimmed) this past weekend. She was so excited to go the "haircut store". We picked a place that does only kid's cuts because we figured she would do better. The place we went has cars for the kids to sit in and the child gets to pick a movie to watch while they get their hair cut. Kylie picked a pink Barbie jeep to "drive" and Toy Story to watch. She says it was Toy Story 3 (her favorite movie) so we let her think that. She only got a little trim. I didn't want to cut to much. After her haircut she got to pick a cute little bow for her hair, a balloon, sucker, and a bear tattoo. She did great at the "haircut store". It was a little pricier than a regular hair cutting place, but it was kind of worth it because she was distracted long enough to get her hair trimmed.

Our Weekend

Some of the blogs I read do a weekend recap so I thought I would too.

My weekend is not Saturday/Sunday because I work Sundays. My weekend starts Friday mornings. This weekend Joe and I decided to do something last minute. Baylor football season starts next Sunday so Joe is going to be very busy working overtime. We wanted to make a quick trip to the beach, but the weather channel showed rain for Friday and Saturday. We were a little bummed about not being able to go to the beach, but knew we wanted to get out of town even if it was just for the day.
We decided to go to lunch at the Salt Lick in Round Rock and then head down to the San Marcos Outlets. We got to the Salt Lick right after they opened so it was not busy. I ordered the sausage plate and Joe had a combo plate with sliced brisket and sausage. Normally we order Kylie her own meal, but when the waitress told me how much came on my plate I figured there would probably be enough for her to share with me. I was right! The plate was full of sausage, beans, potato salad, and cole slaw. There was enough food for Kylie and me to eat, and even give Joe what we couldn't eat. We were all stuffed when we left. After lunch we drove down to San Marcos. On the way to the outlets, Kylie told us she wanted to walk in the stores instead of riding in her stroller. I told her as long as she held one of our hands she could walk. When we got there we decided to bring the stroller just in case. For the most part, she did a good job at walking and holding our hands. There were a few times she said she wanted to go by herself, but once we told her she would have to ride if she didn't obey she grabbed our hand and we continued shopping. One of our first stops was the Disney Store. Kylie loved it and probably would have stayed the rest of the day if we let her. She liked walking around and pointing out all of the characters she knows. The store was selling three cups for $10 so we couldn't pass up the great deal. We let Kylie pick out her favorites. She got a Minnie Mouse cup with a twirly straw, a Toy Story cup with a spinning part on the bottom, and a TinkerBell cup with glitter. While walking around we saw the trailer for 'Hey Cupcake'. We were thirsty and tired so we knew we better stop for a quick sugar rush and water. Joe got the double dose (chocolate buttercream frosting and chocolate cake) and Kylie and I shared the Cherry Sublime (keylime cake with buttercream frosting). They were delicious!!! After our treat we stopped at more stores, but only bought Joe a shirt. After walking all over the outlet mall we were ready to head home. I knew once we got in the car to head home Kylie would be go to sleep. I think she was asleep within ten minutes. On the way home we decided to make a stop at Garden Ridge. We bought a much needed new trash can for our kitchen and a mug tree for our coffee cups. By the time we left the store it was already 7pm. We were all hungry and craving some pasta from Baris in Waco. We didn't get to the restaurant until 9pm. Kylie never eats that late but we figured it would be okay just this one time. It was her weekend too, so the rules can be broken right?? She ate her spaghetti and meatballs and enjoyed their delicious rolls. We ate until we were full and still had leftovers for all three of us. Joe had to get a cannoli before we left ( I got one too). It is his new favorite dessert since we got back from Boston. Once we got home we were wide awake. We let Kylie stay up a little bit and then put her to bed. Joe and I stayed up and rearranged things on the counter so we could use our new mug tree. After cleaning (at midnight!), we enjoyed our cannolis and watched a little bit of television. We didn't go to sleep until 1:30am.
Saturday morning Joe went to his parent's house to visit. My mom came over and we went to HEB, Michaels, and Target. After shopping we grabbed some lunch to go and ate at home. After lunch, Kylie took a nap and mom and I lounged around. We then looked up some craft ideas online. After Mom went home, Joe went to sleep for a little while before he headed in for work. Kylie played, ate dinner, played some more, and then I gave her a bath. Then it was time for bed. I watched a little bit of tv and then went to sleep. I normally don't have any trouble getting up for my early shift on Sundays ( I have to be at work at 6:45am), but I guess I turned off my alarm (twice). Thankfully Joe called me a few minutes before 6 and I was able to get ready, get Kylie ready and head out at our normal time. Once we got in the car, I realized I needed to get gas. Thankfully there is a gas station close to our house that is open at 6:30am on Sundays. Kylie and I got to work at 6:44am! Kylie ate her breakfast and then mom came to pick her up for church. I worked until 2:45p and then went to mom's to pick up Kylie. When I pulled up to the house, I noticed my brother's fiance's vehicle was in front of the house and Joe's truck was in the driveway. As soon as I saw that I knew they were inside to celebrate my birthday. I walked in and they yelled "Happy Birthday!". My mom had made me a birthday cake using twinkies shaped into a flower. My brother and his fiance got me a pair of cute rainboots. My mom is going to get me a haircut like I do every year. She also got me a birthday balloon (picked out by my brother). It is huge!!! Kylie thinks it is her balloon and loves playing with it. After cake and ice cream we headed home to clean up. We then went over to Joe's aunt's house for quesadillas. After dinner and visiting a little while, we came home so Joe could take a little nap before going to work. Kylie and I played outside because it was actually cool (or cooler than it has been). We played with bubbles, took a bike ride, and Kylie took a ride around the block in her wagon. Then it was time for baths.
Joe and I work opposite shifts the entire week so it is nice to be able to spend Friday and Saturday morning/afternoon together as a family of three. We love our family time!!

Kylie's 3rd Birthday

Kylie turned 3 years old on July 1st.

Kylie had a Mickey Mouse party this year. I started buying decorations a few months ago and she was so excited that the party was finally here. Her party was the day before her actual birthday. We had it at the church again this year because our house is not big enough for my entire family. We served hot dogs (because Mickey Mouse does the 'Hot Dog' dance), chips, cupcakes and ice cream. Kylie wore a red romper with white polkadots and mouse ears. She looked like Minnie Mouse. We ate lunch and then sang Happy Birthday and let her blow out her birthday candle. While everyone else ate cupcakes and ice cream, Kylie opened her presents. She was a pro at opening her gifts. She would open one gift and look at it a little, and then say, "another present please". She got so much stuff. She loved everything she got. After opening presents and telling everyone thank you, she got to eat her birthday cupcake. She loved it. After she ate her cupcake she ran around with her friends and cousins while my mom and I cleaned up. She tells us that they had races. After cleaning up, we loaded up her gifts and headed home. We got home and took out all of her presents. I made a quick list of who gave her what gift so I could start writing thank you cards. We opened a few of her presents and put a few away so she will have something new to play with another day. She loves all of her toys.
We took some of her old toys that she doesn't play with anymore and donated them to Goodwill. We also gave some of them to one of our co-workers who has foster children. Kylie was very excited to give her toys "to the little babies" (as she says).
I can't believe my little baby is already three. Seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. She is growing up so fast.

Some facts about Kylie at 3 years old:

• She weighs about 35lbs
  

• She is 41 inches tall. I measured her last week. She is very tall for her age. Everyone that doesn't know her, thinks she is at least 4.

• Favorite Color: Pink

• Some of favorite foods: carrots with ranch, mac and cheese with broccoli, cheese, pancakes, cereal, gummy snacks, sandwiches, and any kind of fruit. She loves almost any food you give her.

• Her least favorite food: Scrambled eggs. We have given her eggs several times, but she only tries a bite. She told us yesterday after she tried it "I don't like those". I think it might be the texture.

• Some of her favorite things to do: color, paint, play supermarket (with her new cash register she got for her bday), read books, and play outside in the sprinker. She is always busy busy busy.

• Favorite Movies: Toy Story 3, Care Bears, and LaLaLoopsy. I lost count on how many times I have seen these movies.

• Some of her favorite TV Shows: Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Caillou, Dora, Ni-Hao Kailan, and Bubble Guppies

• Her favorite places to go: Wal-Mart, Target, HEB, the craft store, church, and YaYa's house

• Favorite Songs: Happy and You Know It, Deep and Wide, and any other Sunday school songs or as Kylie calls it "Jesus music".

• She can count to 20 and recognizes numbers 1-20. Can count and tell you how many of something there are (ex: how many crayons, stickers, etc). Can say her ABCs and recognizes all of the letters. Knows her colors and shapes. She loves to point out numbers, letters, and colors anywhere we go.

Family Vacation 2012

Last week Joe and I were able to get off from work for a week of vacation. We were not really sure where we wanted to go. My mom took off for the week also and said she would watch Kylie while we went somewhere. We thought about going back to Seattle or trying Chicago, but figured we took a big trip last year and would do something smaller this year. Plus, we didn't want to leave Kylie behind. We decided on a trip to Galveston about a week before vacation started. We told Kylie we were going to the beach and she was really excited. Every morning the week before she would say "going to the beach" and we had to tell her only a few more days. She couldn't wait. I couldn't put all of our vacation pictures on the blog so the rest are on Facebook.
We headed out last Tuesday morning. Our first stop was Kemah, Texas. We went to a restaurant that was featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives (T-Bone Tom's BBQ). I was delicious. I had a sliced sausage sandwich and potato salad and Joe had a sandwich with three different meats (pulled pork, sliced brisket, and sliced sausage). We will definately go back the next time we are there.
After lunch, we headed a block over to the Kemah Boardwalk. Kylie rode the double decker carousel and we all rode a train that goes around the boardwalk. After the rides, we let Kylie run around the small playground they have so she could run off some energy after the four hour car ride. Then it was time to head to Galveston. Thankfully Kemah is only a short drive to Galveston. Once we got the hotel we checked in and headed to our room. As soon as we got to the room, we all took a nap. We were a little tired from the drive. After our nice nap, we took Kylie to the beach for a few minutes. We played in the sand and let Kylie put her feet in the water for a second. We then headed for dinner. Dinner was delicious. We went to a restaurant we had been to before (Salsas). After dinner we headed back to the hotel and went to bed.



The next morning (Wednesday) we decided to go for a run along the seawall. It was a nice run and the weather was perfect. It was a nice change of scenery from running in Waco/Hewitt/Lacy Lakeview. After running and having breakfast at the hotel (or as Kylie called it the "hi-is-tel) we got ready for the day. We decided to take a Duck Tour (http://www.galvestonducks.com/). We have been on the Duck Tour before, but thought Kylie would enjoy it. The last time we were in Galveston, she was little and didn't know what was going on. At first she was having a good time, but then it got a little windy and cold. She spent the most of the time on one of our laps while we tried to keep her warm. After the Duck Tour we headed for lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. We thought she would love it, but I think it scared her a little. She didn't mind the monkeys coming to life every ten minutes, but she didn't like the thunderstorm that came every thirty minutes or so. After lunch we had planned on Kylie taking a nap, but she had other plans. As soon as lunch was over she said "Go to the beach?". We couldn't say no, so we headed to the hotel and got changed for the beach. We found a parking spot along the seawall and had to walk a little bit to get to a spot to walk down to the beach. We found a good spot and set up our chairs. From the moment we stepped on the beach Kylie had a huge smile on her face. She had a blast. She started by playing in the sand. She then darted off for the water. Of course Joe chased after her because she would want to go farther into the water than she could. We spent the next hour and a half playing in the sand, chasing Kylie as she ran towards the water, playing in the water, and enjoying the nice weather.

After the beach we went back to the hotel and cleaned up. After playing at the beach, we were hungry, but we didn't know where to eat dinner. We drove up and down the seawall looking for somewhere to eat. We finally decided on a greek restaurant called the Olympia Grill. After we sat down for dinner and looked at the menu, we were starting to regret stopping there. It was a little pricier than we like to spend on dinner ($30 for a plate of roasted lamb). We finally decided on some cheaper options. I tried the moussaka (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moussaka) with a side or roasted potatoes. Kylie had a grilled cheese pita (basically a grilled cheese sandwich on pita bread). Joe decided to try the grilled pork chops. Joe's meal came with soup and he ordered Avgolemono ( a lemon chicken soup). He liked it, but started getting full about halfway through. He gave Kylie a bite and she loved it. She took over the rest of the bowl and ate the entire thing. She sat there like a big girl and ate with a spoon without dropping one bit of soup on her or the table. Once our food got to the table we were shocked at the portions. They were huge. I ordered the light plate and it looked like a full size plate to me. Joe had three grilled pork chops and a ton of roasted potatoes. Kylie's plate was full too. Joe cleaned his plate and I ate most of mine. I think Kylie was a little full from the soup so we took most of her grilled cheese and the rest of my potatoes as leftovers. Even though we were full we thought we would stop for a special treat since Kylie ate so good at dinner. We stopped for ice cream at Sonic and went back to the hotel to eat it. We were really full after ice cream and it didn't take long for all of us to fall asleep.
The next morning we ate breakfast again at the hotel and then went back to the room to pack up. We checked out of the hotel and headed to the Strand District to do a little shopping before heading home. I guess we were a little early because none of the shops were open. We decided to go to Moody Gardens and wait until the shops opened. We just walked around Moody Gardens and looked at the flowers. There was a field trip going on and we didn't want to fight the crowd of kids to see the aquarium (even though Kylie said she wanted to go with the kids). We took a few pictures in a photo booth. All of the pictures are of Kylie looking up and us laughing because Kylie was looking at herself on the monitor instead of at the camera. After Moody Gardens we went back to the Strand. We walked around a few minutes and decided to go in the candy shop. We picked up a few goodies and then decided we would eat lunch before heading back home. We picked a restaurant called Yaga's. It was pretty good. After lunch we filled up the gas tank and headed for Waco. The drive back seemed to take longer than the drive there. We finally got home and unpacked the car. We were tired from the trip and neither of us wanted to cook dinner so we grabbed burgers and brought them home. We spent the rest of the night just hanging out and watching tv.

Friday was spent watching a movie ( a very boring movie) for a paper that Joe has to write for school.
Saturday we went to the zoo. We were invited to the zoo because McLennan County 911 was celebrating its 25th anniversary. Joe and I each received a nice goodie bag for being a police officer and dispatcher. We walked around the zoo and then ate hamburgers provided by the event. We found a few of our co-workers and were able to enjoy a nice lunch with them. After the zoo it was nap time for Kylie and homework time for Joe. I was able to get away for a little while and go to Practically Pikasso with my mom. We had a great time painting and hanging out. After painting we went shopping for a little while and then I headed home. Joe, Kylie and I went to dinner, went shopping a little, and then headed home. The next day was our first day back to work after vacation.
We had a great vacation and enjoyed being together without having to worry about going to work.

Easter 2012

We had a great Easter. I was able to be off from work on Easter and go to church with Kylie. Joe unfortunately had to work. Our Easter weekend started Friday night. Kylie helped Joe and I dye eggs. She had a great time and was very proud of her eggs.

On Saturday morning we headed up to church to help decorate with Easter lilies. After helping decorate we went to the Resurrection Celebration and Egg hunt. Thankfully my mom stayed with me and helped. Kylie did crafts, went to music, had a lesson, and then got to hunt for eggs. She had a blast. After the egg hunt we released balloons with a special message for whoever found them. Kylie then had practice for the songs her class (2 year olds) and the Kindergarten class were going to sing on Sunday. She didn't really want to practice. She just sat there for most of the time. Who could blame her? She had already had a long morning and you can't expect a 2 year old to want to participate after that. After practice we headed to my Grandma and PaPa's house. My mom and I helped my grandma, aunt, and cousin dye eggs (about 3 dozen). Kylie ran around and played with my aunt's dog, Roxie. We then headed to Wal-Mart to get stuff for broccoli salad that we were taking to lunch on Sunday. The rest of the day was spent napping a little and playing.

Sunday morning Kylie and I got up and went to church. After the service we waited until it was time for her to sing. I dropped her off with her Sunday school class and went to the Family Center to wait for her program to start. She walked in with her class and got up on stage. She stood up when the first song started, but sat down about a minute into it. She didn't stand up again after that. She spent the program covering her eyes and showing everyone her shoes. She didn't sing, but she stayed up there and didn't cry. That is an accomplishment. Maybe next year she will actually sing. She knows the songs and sings them in the car. I guess she got a little stage fright. After church we headed home and Kylie took a short nap. We then headed to my mom's and rode with her to my godmother's house. We had a great time with my family. We had fun just hanging out and eating. We had a great lunch and a little dessert. We then watched my cousins play wiffle ball. Kylie had a blast just running around and being crazy. Then it was time for the egg hunt. I helped "hide" the eggs, then we let the kids go. Kylie stayed in one area and picked up a few eggs. She was more interested in seeing what was inside of each egg before putting it in her basket. My brother helped her out and by the end of the hunt, her basket was full. After the kid's hunt, it was time for the adult egg hunt. My godmother had the kids hide the eggs for the adults. We counted down and the adults took off faster than the kids had. Everyone raced around picking up eggs. We then counted up our findings and however many eggs we had, we received that many scratch off lotto tickets! I found four. I scratched all of my tickets and won two dollars. We had a great time with the family. I love when my entire family gets together. There is always great food and fun times.
We headed home about 4. When we got home Kylie was out. She was ready for a nap. I took a little nap in my chair while Joe enjoyed his plate I had made him at lunch. After our naps, we headed to my aunt and uncle's house. They had planned on having a bonfire and roast hot dogs, but the weather had another idea. We ate inside and just had fun hanging out and talking. We headed home around 9 and gave KJ a bath. Then it was time for bed. We were all exhausted.

Valentine's Day

When I got to work today, the flower arrangement on the right was waiting for me in the dispatch office. I thought it was the other dispatcher's, but then I saw the card. An hour later I saw the UPS delivery guy come in the front door with another arrangement and I thought it was for another woman in my office. An officer came in dispatch and said he couldn't read the card and wanted to know if I could read it. I went to the front and the UPS delivery man asked if I was Lindsey. I said yes and he gave me the flowers (the ones on the left). My husband surprised me last year with flowers, but he really surprised me this year. About an hour ago, a box was left outside the front door to the office. I retrieved the box and saw it had my name on it. I opened it up and discovered a box of chocolate dipped strawberries. YUM!!
My husband really outdid himself. I was beyond surprised.

Working Mom

A little bit about me:
My name is Lindsey and I am 26 years old.
I live in central Texas (where I was born and raised)I am a wife and mother to a two and a half year old daughter, Kylie Jo.
I am a working mom.I am a police dispatcher. I have been at my job for almost seven years.
I am also the wife of a police officer.

My husband and I work opposite shifts so our daughter doesn't have to go to daycare. I have my daughter for the morning hours. We have breakfast and then spend our mornings shopping, doing craft projects, and playing. After lunch and a nap, I take her to work with me in the afternoon. My husband takes her home and has her the rest of the night. They watch cartoons, have dinner, and play. My husband is also going back to school to further his career so he is a part-time student, full-time police officer, and full-time daddy.
We are a busy family!
We are thankful to my mom who takes Kylie one day a week when we both work the same shift or whenever one of us has overtime. Kylie loves her YaYa.

Hard to believe my sweet girl is going to be three in less than six months. She is growing up fast. She is so smart and learns something new every day.

All about Kylie Jo:

• She recognizes every letter of the alphabet and numbers 1-13. She likes us to write down all of the letters/numbers and she says the letter/number as we write it.

• She can count to 13 (skipping the number 7...don't know why)

• When we ask her to sing her ABCs she says "A,B,C...Q,R,S,T,U,W,X". We are getting there :)

• She likes to point out every letter, number, and color she sees no matter where we are

• She loves going to Walmart, HEB, and Target

• She has a great memory. For example: If we pass a restaurant we sometimes eat at, she remembers what she ate at that restaurant (Cracker Barrel= pancakes, Cotton Patch=corny dog, Logans=mac and cheese).

• Favorites:Color: pinkFoods:She eats whatever is on her plate, but she has her favorites.Mac and cheese, broccoli, apple slices, corn, mashed potatoes, tomatoes, pancakes, and peas.
  Activities: read and color

• She loves to go to church. She loves seeing all of the family and going to Sunday school. She especially loves going to music. Her favorites songs at church are: Deep and Wide, Jesus Loves Me, and Big House (I'm not sure if that is the correct title, but that is what she calls it)

• We are trying potty training. It is going okay. She loves to wear big girl pants (pull-ups) and only wears a diaper at nap and bedtime just in case.

Today is my mom's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! Thank you for being the best mom ever. I love you very much.

Christmas 2011

This is going to be a long post with no pictures. All of my pictures are on facebook ( I can't load pics when I'm at work)
We had a great Christmas!
We started our Christmas vacation on December 13th and didn't go back to work until the 26th. We had fun being able to spend almost two weeks together without having to worry about work.
We celebrated Christmas six times!
We started by opening gifts at our house the Sunday before Christmas. Santa couldn't wait to give Kylie her gifts so he made an early stop by our house. Kylie was so excited! She got a a baby doll, shopping cart, tons of play food (Santa went a little overboard), a puzzle, books, a coloring book, and a little zoo set. She wanted to open everything as soon as she unwrapped it.
The Thursday before Christmas, we celebrated with my mom, brother, and his fiance. Kylie got Melissa and Doug play food (a cookie set and a sandwich making set), new rain boots, and books from mom, and a Kylie-size pop up castle from her unkie Ryan and Elyse. She didn't know what to play with first. We of course had to set up the castle and open the food. After yummy breakfast casserole, sausage balls, and helping mom make roll ups for Christmas Eve, we headed home with Kylie's loot. After we got home, we had to set up her castle in her room. We had to do a few changes so it would fit. Sadly we had to move the glider out of her room. Her room doesn't look like a baby room anymore. It made mommy and daddy a little sad, but she loves it.
Christmas Eve morning we had Joe's brother, parents, sister, niece and nephew over. We opened gifts and then ate lunch. I made lasagna and we enjoyed a yummy desert made by his sister. After his family went home, we hung out and took naps.
After naps, we got ready for church. It was Kylie's first Christmas program. We sat in the second row at church and waited for her time to sing. She got up and a nice little boy escorted her up to the stage. The music teacher's helper put her on stage and then it was time to sing. She didn't sing or do the motions, but she sure looked cute up there. She did a good job standing there! We were proud of her for just getting up there and not crying (like the five year old next to her). Next year she will do great! After church we were driving in the car, and she started singing and doing the motions...silly girl :).
Christmas Eve we went to my aunt and uncle's house in Axtell. We normally spend it at my Grammy's house, but she had hip surgery earlier this year and she has been staying with them. It was raining and cold which equals not a fun drive to Axtell. Their driveway is long and only has gravel (not paved). It was very muddy and then we had to walk to the house after parking on the driveway (so that we wouldn't get stuck in the muddy grass). Once inside, the celebration started. It was very crowded, which is not unusual when you have a huge family (and we were missing a few people). We started the night with my cousin Matt's annual reading. He writes the funniest stories which sometimes include family members. After story time, it was time for presents. The gifts were passed out and everyone started opening. Kylie got tons of stuff. She got a three foot sock money (thanks :) to my godmother), clothes, toys, a puzzle, and a day pass to the zoo. She had a blast hanging out with all of her family and did not want to leave.
Christmas morning we got up and headed to my dad's house. We opened gifts and hung out for a little while. Kylie got even more play food, bubble bath (she loves to take bubble baths), and books (she loves to read).
After leaving Dad's, we went to my Grandma and PaPa's (my mom's parents). Kylie got another shopping cart (which is for YaYa's house), a baby doll, a word learning puzzle, and a pink princess windsuit. We hung out the rest of the day and then headed home for dinner.

The next day we went back at work. :(. It was a nice vacation, but like other vacations, it didn't last long enough.


New Year's Eve was uneventful for our little family. We both had to go to work Sunday morning so we stayed home. We spent the night putting away Christmas decorations, eating homemade chicken and dumplings (thanks to pinterest), watching Toy Story 3, and reading books. We watched the ball drop (at 11p our time) and went to sleep.
