Our Weekend

The past few days have been busy for our family.

Friday- We spent the morning buying flowers, soil, and galvanized tubs to plant flowers. It only took us about twenty minutes to drill the holes in the tubs and plant the flowers. The hard part is going to be keeping them alive. After planting our flowers we decided to start our garden. A few months ago we bought a raised garden kit and seeds. The garden kit and seed kit comes with everything (except for soil and weed blocker) to build the garden and plant the seeds. The seed kit even includes a planting template that shows where to plant everything and how deep to plant them. The seed kit includes everything for a "Salsa Garden" (tomatillos, red tomatos, cilantro, basil, parsley, jalapenos, serrano peppers, and onions), and a "Vegetable Garden" (more red tomatos, eggplant, yellow squash, bush beans, red bell pepper, yellow tomatos, zucchini, and cucumbers). I can't wait to make my first homemade salsa!!

Saturday- Kylie spent the night with YaYa Friday night so Joe and I could get up early to drive to Burnet, Texas for the Vanishing Texas River Cruise. It took us about 2 hours to drive to Burnet and the drive was great. We saw beautiful scenery. There was nothing but cliffs and trees along the road for about ten miles before we got to the cruise. The cruise is a two hour boat ride on Lake Buchanan and then the Colorado River. It was very relaxing. We were able to get the last two seats on the top of the boat and enjoyed more beautiful scenery. The cruise is a 24 mile cruise. For the last twenty minutes of the ride, Joe and I went to the observation deck at the front of the boat and enjoyed the breeze coming off the water. We forgot our camera, but were able to get a few pictures with our cellphones.

After the boat docked we headed into Marble Falls for lunch. Although our lunch wasn't the best we still had a good time just being together. We then decided to go to Austin to the Container Store. The drive from Marble Falls to Austin was beautiful. We saw more trees, cliffs, ranches, and huge homes in the hills of Marble Falls. The day was beautiful so we were able to drive with the sun roof and windows open. After finally getting to our destination (thanks to a few wrong turns...even though we had a GPS), we shopped around the Container Store. I would buy every kind of organization item in that store if I could! We then walked over to Whole Foods. I love this store!! I wish we had one here. We walked around just to see what kind of things they have. We ended up buying only one item...a single bottle of beer (an Irish one I think). Joe is going to enjoy it tonight after work. We made one more stop before heading home. We can't have a long car ride without a stop at Starbucks. After getting our favorite drinks we headed back to Waco to pick up our baby girl. We hadn't seen her in about 24 hours. That is the longest time I think we have ever been away from her. Even though we had a great time with just the two of us, we couldn't wait to see her. I don't think she missed us too much. She had a great time with YaYa. She got to follow Uncle RyRy around before he went to work, visit Drift (the "pup pup"), and go to a wedding with YaYa. We heard she was quite a hit at the wedding. She danced and clapped for the guitar players, ran around, and even had a cupcake before heading back to YaYa's.

Sunday- Just another day at work  :(:(

21 Months Old

Tomorrow Kylie will be 21 months old. How is that possible? Time is going by so fast!

We recently had her pictures taken by a lady that worked with my mom. For anyone that has not seen the pictures, you can see a few of them by going to my mom's blog (http://www.sisteroneoffour.blogspot.com/). All of the pictures turned out great. The photographer told me that I could pick ten pictures for free and she would put them on a CD for me to print off whenever. I couldn't pick just ten, so I paid for the rest. All of the pictures were taken at the Quad area at Baylor University. Kylie loved climbing up and down the stairs. The photographer just let Kylie run around and she chased her with the camera. She had a great time and gave the photographer (and mommy) a good workout.

Some Stats about KJ:

  • Height: The last time we took her to the doctor they said 34 inches, but I don't think she got shorter since her 18 month checkup when they measured and said 36. They measured her standing up instead of lying down, so she may not have been standing completely straight. All I know is that she is tall for her age. She is about 1 to two inches shorter than our neighbor who will be three this year.

  • Weight: 27.4 lbs

  • Shoe Size: I think we are at 5 maybe almost 6

  • Wears size 18-24 months in most things. She wears some clothes that are size 2T (I don't know exactly what size that is)

  • Words she says: YaYa (mom is so glad), MaMa, DaDa, RyRy (for her uncle), PaPa, nanna (banana), byebye, go, pup pup (for any size dog), ball, car, manman (snowman), ba (blanket), shsh (shoes/socks), Nenna (Jenna, her godmother), rock (when she wants to rock in the our recliner), chair, down, please (and uses sign lanuage so show the word), Ky-ee (for her name), GoGo (for Dora the Explorer...don't know how it got the name "go go"), me, church, purple, bible, bow, cheese, baby, Elmo, call (she picks up the phone and wants to call somebody). She is picking up new words every day.  I may have forgotten some words because she is constantly talking and I can't always hear (or understand) what she is saying.

  • Loves to read or have someone read to her.

  • Loves to give hugs and kisses

  • Waves to almost anyone (unless you tell her to wave, and then she won't)
It is hard to believe that KJ will be two in three months. I am already planning her birthday party. She climbs on everything and loves bananas so a monkey themed party is perfect for her. A pink monkey party of course!!

18 Months Old

Kylie turned 18 months old on 1/1/2011. Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. The past year and a half has flown by. Not sure of her exact height or weight, but we will find out this next Friday at her 18 month checkup.

All about Kylie at 18 months:
  • Wears size 3 diapers, size 4 shoes, 18 month bottoms (a little big in the waist, but fit lengthwise), and anywhere from 6 to 18 month tops. She is tall, but tiny.
  • Favorite Foods: cheese, applesauce, bananas, Vanilla Wafers, Macaroni and Cheese, and anything off anyone else's plate
  • Drinks from a sippy cup (no bottle since she was a year old...she went cold turkey from the bottle and never looked back)
  • She has a mouth full of teeth ( I lost count after nine)
  • Walking like a pro (most of the time)...practically running
  • Words she says: MaMa, DaDa, RyRy (for her uncle), PaPa, nanna (banana), byebye, go, pup pup (for any size dog), ball, car, manman (snowman), ba (blanket), shsh (shoes/socks), Nenna (Jenna, her godmother), rockrock (when she wants to rock in the our recliner) MeMe (not sure if she is saying that refering to herself or my Aunt Stephanie who is called MeMe by her grandkids). We are still working on YaYa :):)
  • Can point to the right object (animal, car, cupckakes, shoes, etc) in her picture books when you ask her where it is in the book
  • Says "Nanna" and points to the produce section anytime we go in Wal-Mart or HEB
  • Signs for "more" and is learning to sign "please"
  • Can show she is one (by holding up her index finger)
  • Knows where and points to her hair/head, belly, ear, teeth, toes, fingers, and sometimes nose
  • Waves to 99% of everyone she sees, and gets really excited anytime she sees another baby or child
  • Loves to give kisses, hugs and eskimo kisses
  • Loves to play with all of her toys...at once. Hurricane Kylie is what we call her :):)
  • Warms up to almost anybody (family/friends only), especially when they show her their cellphone
  • Loves her Uncle RyRy (Ryan) and follows him around when she is at YaYa's house
  • Loves to read and have Mommy, Daddy, and YaYa reread the same book over and over again :)
  • Growing up too fast!!!!

Update on Kylie:
She had her 18 month checkup and we found out she weighs 24.2 lbs and is 35 inches (almost three feet tall). The doctor told us she is over the 95 percentile in height!!! He said everything looks good. Next checkup is at 2 years old.

Crazy Hair and a Cute Shirt

Kylie's hair is now getting long enough for her to have bedhead when she wakes up. It was like this even after I combed it.

Kylie in a cute shirt she got from her godmother for Christmas.

Future Baylor Bear???

I dressed Kylie in her pink Baylor shirt that she got in baby bear basket (from Baylor) when she was born. Think she looks like a future Baylor Bear???

How will she pay for her future college education????
With money from daddy's wallet of course!!! She already has the credit card in hand ready to use.

Kylie's 2nd Halloween

Kylie dressed up as a ladybug for Halloween. It was her second Halloween, but her first Halloween to go trick or treating. She had a blast. We went with our neighbors. Kylie and the neighbor's daughter, Cameron, rode together in the wagon. They had so much fun. Cameron would make a funny face or sound and Kylie would start laughing so hard.
We first walked around our neighborhood and then headed over to a neighborhood in Hewitt. Kylie and Cameron held their pumpkins the entire night. They did not want to let them out of their sight. They liked switching candy back and forth between their buckets. We walked quite a long way, and we were all exhausted by the time we got back to our vehicles. We got over really late, and of course Kylie went to sleep as soon as her head hit her crib mattress. She was so tired, that she slept until 9:15 this morning. That is probably the latest she has ever slept. Kylie can't wait to dig in her bucket for a candy treat after lunch!!
